Please join Monterey One Water (M1W) to celebrate our Large Plant of the Year recognition with a facility tour and lunch. Registration will be capped at 60 attendees. Registration fee is $35 per attendee. The walking tour will begin at 10:00 am and last approximately 1.5 hours, followed by a BBQ lunch. Door prizes will be available for registrants. Closed-toe shoes required for tour participants. 

About M1W:

M1W is a nationally recognized leader in the water sector, proudly serving the Monterey Bay region. The public utility provides wastewater and water recycling services that prioritize reliability, community, innovation, and environmental stewardship. 

As a Class V wastewater facility with a treatment capacity of 29.6 MGD, M1W operates an integrated system that includes its regional wastewater treatment facility along with a tertiary facility for agricultural irrigation and an advanced water purification facility for groundwater replenishment. Further maximizing local water resources, M1W accepts food waste that it co-digests with its wastewater solids. The biogas from this process is currently turned into electricity, supporting about 90% of the wastewater plant’s energy demand. For the future, M1W is constructing infrastructure to upgrade the biogas from 60% to above 98% methane content (commercial quality natural gas) in addition to an array of linear generators for ultra-low emission energy generation
