In late 2023, Delta Diablo launched a relatively modest capital improvement project with a significant cultural and operational impact. The District identified the need to improve safe access to open-to-atmosphere confined spaces, including clarifiers, contact tanks, aeration basins, and similar assets. 

A cross-functional team was assembled to evaluate conceptual solutions, research available technologies, and identify the most effective approach. The team developed design and installation specifications, partnered with a selected manufacturer, and successfully implemented the project in April 2026. 

Now fully operational, the installed solutions are enhancing worker safety, improving access for operations and maintenance activities, and delivering lasting value to both the District and its staff.
