Description:

Join us on a tour of Central San’s Membrane Aerated Biofilm Reactor (MABR) full-scale demonstration, which is currently the largest MABR installation in the United States.

Central San’s goal is to meet nutrient regulatory requirements while maximizing the value of existing assets to avoid building new aeration tanks or secondary clarifiers. Building on pilot testing results, one of four aeration tanks was retrofit with MABR, large bubble mixing and a surface wasting box during the summer of 2026.

The tour and dinner presentation will cover the newly installed MABR full-scale demonstration, including information on design and construction, start-up, instrumentation/controls, and operation.

Tour leads and presenters will include Central San, Coombs-Hopkins, Hazen, HDR, Veolia, and Overaa. This will provide attendees with diverse perspectives on all factors related to this project.
