Join us for an in-depth technical workshop on
nutrient removal in Bay Area water reclamation facilities, hosted by the Bay
Area Clean Water Agencies (BACWA). This workshop, part of the Dr. David Jenkins
Technical Series, is designed to provide the technical knowledge necessary to
retrofit conventional wastewater treatment plants to accomplish nitrogen
removal goals.
About the Professor David Jenkins Operator Scholarship
The Professor David Jenkins Operator Scholarship is established in honor of Dr.
Jenkins’ distinguished contributions and lasting legacy in the wastewater
operator community. This scholarship will provide up to $10,000 to a wastewater
operator to pursue a college education and advance their career in the water
sector.
Scholarship Background
Professor David Jenkins has made significant contributions to education,
research, and scientific advances in the water sector. Known for his practical
approach, he frequently visited water resource recovery facilities to train
operators, troubleshoot issues, and provide solutions. His nearly 60-year
career, primarily at the University of California, Berkeley, has had a profound
impact on many operators and their facilities.
Dr. Jenkins’ legacy includes induction into the National Academy of
Engineering, the Ardern and Lockett Award, the Berkeley Citation, and numerous
other accolades. His dedication to the wastewater community will be remembered
