Description:
Optimizing Energy and Emissions: Aeration Off-Gas
Testing Case Studies

Aeration is the heartbeat of biological wastewater
treatment, driving both treatment efficiency and energy consumption. Off-gas
testing offers a direct window into aeration performance, revealing
opportunities for optimization while also quantifying greenhouse gas emissions
like nitrous oxide (N₂O).
This presentation will share key findings from real-world off-gas testing
campaigns, uncovering practical strategies to enhance aeration efficiency,
reduce energy costs, and mitigate emissions.
Learning Objectives:
- Understand
the applications of off-gas testing for wastewater treatment.
- Identify
strategies to improve aeration efficiency and energy savings.
- Understand
the impact of nitrous oxide emissions from BNR processes on carbon footprints
and explore mitigation strategies.
Speaker: Sam Reifsnyder is a Wastewater Technologist and the R&D NorCal Lead at
Carollo. With nine years of experience addressing aeration performance, energy
optimization, and greenhouse gas emissions mitigation, Sam now leads Carollo’s
off-gas testing consulting services, supports local projects transitioning to
biological nutrient removal (BNR), and coordinates national programs that
integrate innovative renewable energy systems into the wastewater sector. Schedule:
