DESCRIPTION:


Skilled trade internships are a valuable opportunity for students and workers who want to learn practical skills in various fields. The intern can gain hands-on experience, develop professional networks, and enhance their resume. The work group and organization also benefit from the interns’ contributions, fresh perspectives, and enthusiasm. With the noticeable decline of available skilled labor, trade internships can help bridge the gap between education, employment, and create a larger pool of quality candidates for future recruitment.



SPEAKER:

Brian Walters (left) – A graduate of CSU East Bay in Business Administration with 12 years of experience in the field of wastewater, Brian started his career as a summer intern and worked his way up to Lead Maintenance Technician at CCCSD. Brian has become a key contributor on maintenance topics such as asset condition monitoring, reliability centered maintenance, standard operating procedures, and their mechanical maintenance internship program.

Bernard Martinez (middle) - A Lead Maintenance technician approaching almost two decades of experience in wastewater at Central San, initially as a utility worker then joined the mechanical maintenance team. He climbed the ranks from trainee to Lead Maintenance Technician and in 2017 won state level CWEA Mechanical Technician of the year. He is passionate about promoting continuous improvement and helping to develop the next generation of maintenance personnel.

Kenny Rosenstiel (right)- With 24 years of experience in the skilled trades Kenny joined the team at Central San 3 years ago. Starting as a maintenance crew member he has ascended to lead maintenance technician. Kenny enjoyed the experience of owning a business for 8 years, employing individuals from all types of backgrounds. Gaining trust from clients and employees gave him the understanding of how important team building is.

Cost: $45 member, $60 non-member, $25 student
