Outreach: Handling Media Requests During a Crisis
Media interviews are an opportunity to disseminate information to the general public quickly. With proper preparation and simple, clear messages delivered in a credible manner, a media interview can be an effective and efficient way to communicate with target audiences. This talk will provide tips from experience on how to make the most out of potentially nerve-wracking interactions with media during crisis situations.

After participating in this session, attendees will be able to:
Understand that a crisis management center does now exist in Sacramento that will support treatment plants across the state.
Understand how the organization received funding and what the long-term outlook is for this center.
Understand the overall mission of this organization.

Lessons Learned from the Camp Fire, Recent fires have utilities wondering on how best to prepare/respond for such a crisis.
This curated track will focus on Lessons Learned, Outreach, Mutual Aid, and Disaster Mitigation/Recovery Support. The audience will leave the track with a better understanding on how utilities can best prepare and respond to a crisis.

After participating in this session, attendees will be able to:
Develop immediate and long-term recovery actions in response to a large-scale natural disaster.
Compare and contrast their current disaster response plan with what was done by Paradise Irrigation District.
Communicate disaster response activities to customers.
