Leveraging Agency Research to Engage College Students
Engaging, retaining, and educating future wastewater engineers, operators, and lab technicians remains an ongoing industry challenge. This session provides participants with ideas for starting their own student-based research program in partnership with a local college or trade school to introduce and train potential future employees in the industry.

After participating in this session, attendees will be able to:

• After participating in this session, participants will know the mechanics of setting up and operating a university-utility research and training partnership.

Developing the Leaders Around You: Building Depth for Succession Planning
Today the requirement to identify and develop leaders is often overlooked. Without an intentional approach to developing leaders, organizations struggle to fill the gap. This session is designed to equip participants in successfully fulfilling their responsibility as a leader/team member and how to improve as they function in that role.
Learning Objective(s): 
After participating in this session, attendees will be able to:
• Evaluate their approach on: Am I raising up potential leaders? Understanding the benefits from raising up leaders within the organization, and how it contributes to the overall succession plan.
• Assess themselves on: Am I creating a climate for potential leaders? Along with practical ways to help leaders in their organization grow.
• Assess themselves on: Am I identifying potential leaders? What are some qualities to look for, and programs to implement to ensure those leaders have an opportunity to grow.

On Boarding New Maintenance Staff
Sergio will present West Bay Sanitary District's On Boarding process and experience which required the District to hire 11 new maintenance staff out of 17 maintenance personnel in 3 short years due to retirements and promotions. Learn about their extensive training program, on boarding process and training tracking system.

After participating in this session, attendees will be able to:
• Conduct proper on boarding of new staff by conducting thorough training of each employee.
• Creating a culture where significant training investments are made into each employee.
• Observe West Bay's experience in on boarding more that 50% of new staff.

On Boarding: The Real World Experience of Implementing Agency-wide Onboarding Program
This on-boarding session will present the practical elements of a good on-boarding program including; training, safety, HR, IT, and facilities modules, and more importantly HOW to implement quickly and effectively.

• Explore the Power of Moments in the onboarding experience 
• Discuss the benefits and challenges of onboarding
