This
presentation is for any operator or engineer who may soon be involved in the
design or operation of a wastewater plant with nutrient removal capabilities.
The fundamentals of wastewater nitrification, denitrification, biological and
chemical phosphorus removal will be covered as well as related process
optimization and automation strategies. Drawing on firsthand experience in the
Chesapeake Bay watershed and along the eastern seaboard, regions with some of
the strictest nutrient regulations in the country, two BNR case studies will
also be discussed.

Brendan
Luther is a process engineer with seven years’ experience in wastewater and
biological nutrient removal. He specializes in data analytics, chemical dosing
control and process optimization. He holds a degree in Biosystems Engineering
from Clemson University and resides in Richmond, VA.
