2.4 contact hours towards CWEA's CSM, EIT certifications

This session includes the following presentations:

Effective I&I Reductions Using Adaptive Asset Management Approach
To demonstrate an approach for effective I&I removal to meet regulatory compliance (Consent Decree).
Learning Objective(s):
After participating in this session, attendees will be able to:
• Understand the regulatory drivers for I&I reductions.
• Understand how the best means to assess I&I reductions based on variable climatological conditions.
• Identify various investigation methodologies used to identify I&I sources.

I&I Micro Detection: Pinpointing Inflow and Infiltration Simply
What we are here to share is microdetection technology. The purpose of this technology is to “pinpoint the contributors of inflow and infiltration within adjacent manholes.” We do this by deploying our iTracker level sensors within the basin. Through data gathering and our auto analytics platform, we are able to link the iTrackers to determine the Rain Derived Inflow & Infiltration in particular pipelines. We see too often that utilities spend millions of dollars analyzing their system (paralysis through analysis) and at the end of the study, all they have is a beautiful document telling them that they have I&I but what they don’t have is the system fixed. That’s because 80% of a collection system’s I&I comes from only 20% of the lines. So the question is, how do we quickly and cost effectively narrow in on that 20%?
Learning Objective(s):
After participating in this session, attendees will be able to:
• The objective is to educate on the advanced I&I Detection Technology that has become available.
• Learning how I&I Detection is beneficial.
• Learning how I&I Detection works.

Seductive Lure of Level-Only Meters for Measuring I&I
I&I reduces a Collections System's capacity, and at the WWTP reduces capacity and increases the cost by requiring the treatment rain water. Discussion of Pros & Cons of using AV Meters and Level-Only Meters to identify I&I in a Collections System.
Learning Objective(s):
After participating in this session, attendees will be able to:
• After participating in this session, participants will be able to demonstrate whether sites in their I&I studies should use AV meters or Level-Only meters.
• After participating in this session, participants will be able to determine whether sites in their I&I studies have backwater.
• After participating in this session, participants will be able to demonstrate whether the 20% of the sites in their Collections Systems that is causing 80% of the I&I."
