The presentation will provide
a Cal/OSHA educational perspective on protecting ourselves against Covid-19,
heat illness prevention, and wild fire smoke. The primary focus will be how to
minimizing exposure to Covid-19 in the workplace. Updates on available
educational Cal/OSHA resources and links to other websites. Learn the elements
to best work practices and prevention.
After participating in this session, attendees will be able to:
- Navigate through the Cal/OSHA website to obtain updates
on Covid-19 and other vital safety and health information.
- Seek and download any and all needed safety and
health information to help you maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
- Be proactive in minimizing the risk factors on
Covid-19, heat illness, and wild fire smoke.
Speaker: Michael Alvarez, Cal/OSHA Trainer, California's Division of
Occupational Safety and Health
Michael Alvarez current serves as an Educational Outreach Trainer for
the Division of Occupational Safety and Health (Cal/OSHA). Before retirement,
he served as the Regional Manager and Acting Program Manager for Cal/OSHA
Consultation. His Cal/OSHA work included serving as an Emergency Response
Manager that included the Katrina hurricane emergency and California wildfires.
While a Manager for Cal/OSHA’s Education and Training Unit, he co-authored and
edited several publications and hosted educational outreach. Other positions in
his past include Program Manager and Engineer for the Department of
Transportation (CalTrans) and a Cal/OSHA Engineer in Enforcement. He holds a
Bachelor in Science degree in Management and is a US Army veteran of the US Army.
