September 14, 2022

Description:
Please join us on September 14th for a tour of
Watsonville's Wastewater Treatment and Recycling Facilities, which serve the
City of Watsonville, as well as the Pajaro, Freedom, and Salsipuedes sanitation
districts.
Recycled water is supplied to the Pajaro
Valley Water Management Agency (PVWMA) in a collaborative agreement designed to
prevent seawater intrusion into the local aquifer. The wastewater treatment facility has been
co-digesting waste grease since 2003, and a cogeneration system makes the
facility energy neutral.
Tour will start at 10:00, last approximately 1 1/2 hours, and will be followed
by a catered taco lunch and door prizes. Cost is $35/person and attendees will
receive 1 CEU.
