SCVS June Dinner Meeting (Palo Alto BBQ)

June 16, 2022
Contact Hours:

Description:

Please join us at our annual BBQ event hosted by the City of Palo Alto Regional Water Quality Control Plant staff. Get away from the hustle and bustle, and enjoy some tranquility at the Lucy Evans Baylands Interpretive Center while hearing about Palo Alto's upcoming project.

Over the next several years, the Palo Alto Regional Water Quality Control Plant (RWQCP) will undergo a major upgrade to improve its secondary treatment process. This project will replace the existing trickling filter and activated sludge process with a new biological nutrient removal (BNR) process that includes an innovative membrane aerated biofilm reactor (MABR) system.

This presentation will discuss how the City evaluated different options for treatment process upgrades and why the BNR/MABR system was ultimately selected as the path forward to provide the City with an enhanced treatment process that will better protect San Francisco Bay. Our speakers will be Tom Kapushinski (City of Palo Alto) and Mike Walkowiak (Brown and Caldwell).

In addition to the great food and interesting presentation, we will have some fantastic door prizes for attendees.  We look forward to seeing you there!
