CWEA presents a comprehensive training program geared toward wastewater operators just entering the industry. Participants will be equipped with the foundational knowledge required for effective management of wastewater collection systems. Speaker Bio: William Kleinau has over 14 years of fulltime government experience that includes 4 years of military experience overseeing a defense systems maintenance cycle as well as preventative and corrective maintenance procedures which involved water, electrical, radar and chemical systems. Additionally, he has 10 years of experience with water and sewer systems, ranging from creating strategic maintenance programs to developing new CMMS and GIS platforms. William worked his way up from a maintenance technician in the U.S. Navy to his current position as Collection Systems Manager for Irvine Ranch Water District, managing 15 FTEs to cover 6 cities, 14 lift stations, and over 1,500 miles of sewer main. In San Gabriel, William managed 4 FTEs and multiple contractors from project development through project closeout. His strategic overview of the maintenance program led to increased production and greater reliability. He managed the survey team, hydraulic model development, NPDES program, stormwater program, and the hazardous materials program. In Alhambra, he led a team of 6 FTEs in the daily upkeep of system maintenance including jetting and CCTV inspection of the system and maintenance and repairs of the city’s 8 lift stations. William strongly believes in developing and assisting others, which is why he volunteers with the Maintenance Superintendents Association (MSA) and the CWEA Santa Ana River Basin Section.
