workshop teaches nitrogen removal fundamentals and applications, including an
overview of technologies and limits of treatment. Innovative technologies
(e.g., Microvi, MABR, and PdNA) and intensification technologies (e.g., MBR,
densification, low-DO) will be discussed to give participants cost, risk,
resiliency, and operation pros and cons to different biological nitrogen
removal options. Case studies will be presented to provide insight to the
decision making process from other agencies that have already moved toward
upgrades for nitrogen removal. The workshop will end with a panel session to
answer audience questions.

Outcomes:

will understand nitrogen removal fundamentals. ·
Attendees
will understand advantages and limitations between different nitrogen removal
processes and technologies. ·
Attendees
will learn about drivers that can impact nitrogen removal upgrade decisions
