Description:
The South County Regional Wastewater Authority
(SCRWA) is a joint powers authority established to manage wastewater treatment
for the cities of Gilroy and Morgan Hill. The current primary and secondary
treatment facilities were originally commissioned in 1994 with an average dry
weather flow (ADWF) capacity of 7.5 million gallons per day (mgd). System
upgrades in 2002, followed by performance testing in 2007, resulted in the
facility being re-rated to treat up to 8.5 mgd ADWF.
In partnership with Valley Water, SCRWA also operates a recycled water facility
co-located at the treatment plant. This facility was brought online in 1995
with a reliable treatment capacity of 3 mgd and was expanded in 2006 to handle
up to 9 mgd.
A major maintenance and upgrade project was completed in 2016, including
installation of an Ovivo diffused air system and a Wedeco ultraviolet (UV)
disinfection system capable of treating up to 9 mgd.
SCRWA has begun a significant expansion project in 2025. This project includes
the addition of a 2.5 mgd membrane bioreactor (MBR) system, a new headworks
facility, and a new dewatering building.
Registration for this event is limited to 32 attendees, with a cost of $45.00
per participant. The registration includes a guided tour of the facility, plus
a hearty catered lunch from a fantastic local BBQ joint—smoked meats, savory
sides, and sweet tea included. Stick around for raffle-style door prizes and
great networking with fellow water professionals!
