The Professional Development Committee (PDC) of SARBS will present online training on the topics related to emerging contaminants at Wastewater Treatment Plant. Presentation topics will include:  Introduction to Microplastics, Current Status of Testing Methods and Latest Findings, the Regulatory Landscape for PFAS in Biosolids and Highlights on Pharmaceuticals and Personal Care Products in Wastewater Influents and Treatment
 
 
SPEAKERS:
 
Moderator: Stephanie Shamblin Gray, Project Engineer, HDR 
 
Stephanie Shamblin Gray is a Water Project Engineer with HDR in Southern California. She has more than 10 years of experience in planning and design of wastewater, recycled water, and storm water projects. Stephanie leads the intern program in her office and serves as a mentor for Senior Design Projects at University of California,
Irvine.
 
 
 
Speaker Panelist: Preeti Thimmaraju, Project Engineer, Brown and Caldwell
 
Preeti Thimmaraju has been working as an Environmental Engineer for Brown and Caldwell for over 4 years. She obtained her Masters degree in Chemical Engineering from UC Irvine and interned at the SFPUC Southeast Treatment Plant before she started working at BC. Preeti has experience working on biosolids and energy projects doing planning and detailed design for multiple clients across California. Preeti is an engaged member of the wastewater industry and is passionate about sharing information on emerging trends and challenges we face in the industry.

Inc. 
 
With more than 28 years in the wastewater industry, Mary brings a unique perspective to projects through her experience working as a district engineer supporting the operations of two wastewater treatment plants, as a developer for a national biosolids management company, and as a technology leader for two large equipment manufacturers. She understands the impacts of changing biosolids legislation and the business opportunities present resulting from market drivers associated with the diversion of organics from landfills and a state-wide demand for alternative energy. She has a long history of working with agencies to create forward-thinking, creative programs to address complex challenges, and has assisted with the capture of millions of dollars in grant funding to support those projects/programs. 
 
 
 
Speaker Panelist: Ufuk Erdal, Senior VP and Water Reuse Technology Director, Arcadis
 
Ufuk Erdal has previously been vice president and served as the water reuse national practice and technology director in AECOM. He is registered professional engineer with more than 25 years of diverse experience in planning, pilot testing, preliminary and final design and commissioning of advanced treatment facilities used in water reuse applications.
