Description:
Since wastewater treatment workers are at an increased risk of infection and illness from water based pathogens, treatment facilities need to evaluate how job tasks/activities influence risk. This session engages academics, industry and wastewater workers in a presentation about risk assessment and strategies for mitigation. Learning Objective(s) - After participating in this session, attendees will be able to: Describe the occupational risks associated with pathogens such as SARS-CoV-2. Identify key opportunities and challenges to mitigating occupation risk to aerosolized pathogens such as SARS-CoV-2. Determine adaptations to IIPP for the pandemic and other pathogens transmitted through aerosols to protect wastewater workers. 1.1 contact hours towards CWEA's Collection System Maintenance, Electrical / Instrumentation Technician, Environmental Compliance Inspector, Laboratory Analyst and Mechanical Technologist certifications.
